Introduction:
It is a process through which stakeholders at various level:
i. engage in monitoring or evaluation at a project
ii. share control over the content, process and the results of the monitoring and evaluation
iii. engage in taking or identifying corrective actions
It focuses on the active engagement of primary stakeholders.
Purpose of Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation:
1. To improve capacity building
2. Increase efficiency and effectiveness
3. Create new partnership
4. Lead empowerment
5. Promote sustainability
Conventional Monitoring and Evaluation
It is a process in which people are not the part or actors of the project's monitoring or evaluation but donor representatives or external consultants are primary responsible for identifying needs, developing a general project, providing money and others resources and monitoring and evaluation

Conventional Monitoring and Evaluation
1. Stakeholders of various levels engage in monitoring and evaluating of particular project.
a. Project management or outside experts ae engaged in monitoring and evaluating of project.
2. The role of stakeholder is to design and adopt the methodology, collect and analyse data, share findings and link them to action.
b. The role of stakeholder is to just provide information.
3. It is initiated by both donor and stakeholder.

4. It's main purpose is capacity building, increase ownership over results and multi-stakeholder accountability.

8. The final report is better understanding of local realities, stakeholders involved in analysis and decision making.
h. The final report is circulated within the donor institution with copies to project management.
